JYSK
JYSK is an international retail chain that sells “everything for the home”. This chain is still owned by the family of its original founder, Lars Larsen, who is known throughout Denmark as a retailer who always has great deals.
In 1979, he opened his first store in Denmark, in the country’s second-largest city, Aarhus, where it is still located today. Larsen has big ambitions, although he never imagined how quickly his business would grow. He continued his work by opening several successful new locations of JYSK Sengetøjslager (the store’s original name until 2001) across the country and in 1984 opened his first store outside of Denmark, in neighboring Germany.
Today, the JYSK group consists of more than 3,200 stores in 48 countries around the world.
The annual turnover is about 4.87 billion euros. Growth is stable and controlled. The total number of personnel is almost 28,500 employees.
In Bulgaria, JYSK entered the market in 2005. To date, the store chain has 51 stores, with a total of over 700 employees. The logistics center of JYSK Bulgaria is located in a state industrial park in Bozhurishte. This is the eighth such base for the Danish company in the world.
“It is remarkable how JYSK has developed over the years. We started with one store in Plovdiv and only a dozen employees, and we reached 51 stores across the country and more than 700 employees at the moment, including one of the most modern logistics bases in the region – the Distribution Center in Bozhurishte. The years passed very quickly and it was a pleasure for me to see how the company is changing, how our colleagues are developing, and how the brand is becoming more and more famous all over Bulgaria. Some of the colleagues who were hired at JYSK in 2005 are still working in the company, including me, which is proof that we enjoy our work, and that when you work hard, the reward will come,” says Lyuben Mishev, ” Sales Manager” for JYSK Bulgaria.
